actress, voice-over actress, theatremaker
My name is Myy Lohi, and I'm a Finnish actress, voice-over actress and an all-over stage enthusiast. Also an aspiring translator (English to Finnish).
I began my acting studies in the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts (in Helsinki, Finland) in 2014, and I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in the spring of 2019.
Currently I'm a freelance performer stationed in Helsinki.
I enjoy a vast variety of genres in theatre – anything from dialogue-heavy drama to musicals and puppetry. As part of my acting studies, I completed a special study period in musical theatre. My singing range is that of a mezzo soprano.
Exploring speech, words and the human voice is a particular interest of mine. Thus, I eagerly lend my voice to Finnish-dubbed versions of children's movies and programs. (In Finland, only programs aimed at child audiences tend to be dubbed – with some exceptions.)
Besides acting, I have written, adapted and translated material for the stage.
I greatly enjoy learning new skills. To name a few, I have dabbled in floor acrobatics, pole-dancing and fencing on varying levels. I play the violin, but very poorly. At home I enjoy knitting, baking, watching old movies and taking long walks.
I speak excellent English and fairly good French, Japanese and Swedish. I have also studied German and, very briefly, Russian. When it comes to different languages, phonetics especially is my strong suit.
